Illustration Friday - "Monster"

*Click for Larger*

Just a quick digitally painted sketch for the latest Illustration Friday; prompt of "Monster."

Anyone who takes their anger out on a child, physically or verbally, is a monster.

Listening to Gary Jules "Mad World" (from the Donnie Darko soundtrack) while drawing this:

Gotta get back to the Wizard of Oz sketch cards. Still a couple hundred to do.

Thanks for lookin'.

  2. This is scary, the little hand being held in his huge fist is what really makes it for me.

  4. For a topic that can lend itself to all manner of fantasy and even cute monsters, yours is not only truly monstrous, but within the realm of actual possibility. It makes me squirm, and hope someone can rescue that poor child!

    Very well done!

    It's is racist.
    Why a black ma?

  7. Definitely not racist, man. That's just silly. FIrst, he's not black (though the color I used for skin tone is confusing, I admit). He's a real (white; redneck, actually) person that I know of. Unfortunately, this person actually exists.

Even if he was black the assumption that it's racist is pretty silly.

Thank you, everyone, for your kind words.

  9. The situation being actual and a part of the real world makes it the most monstrous of all the monsters here at the I.Friday.

  10. Dang -- that !@#$% person is someone real, not just a concept.

Have they gotten themselves right (thru therapy, jail time, whatever?)

Makes ME angry just thinking about them whompin' on some child. My Avenging Monster gets her hackles up.

  15. A very good illustration; though very sad.

FYI; in case you didn't know; "Mad World" was originially done by "Tears for Fears" on "The Hurting" album; the entire album is directed towards this issue; as I think the album "Songs from the Big Chair" is. They derived thier name from "primal therapy".

  16. Hey, everyone!! Thanks for the great feedback and kind words.

Yes, unfortunately this guy is real and has yet to see consequenses for his actions. Hopefully soon.

ascenderrisesabove - I did not know that. I'll definitely be looking for that album. Thanks!
